1984 gets even closer....

1984 comes ever closer still : The Daily Hatemail, sorry, I meant Daily Mail had the broadest coverage of this:  http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1267278/New-speed-cameras-trap-motori...

I especially like the bit which states that speeding tickets have gone down since the police stopped keeping a percentage of the money - Hmmm....funny that....

Automated Acoustics Live Violin Recording session

The excellent multi-instrumentalist Benedict Green came down to Automated Acoustics' studio to record some live violin parts for the forthcoming Automated Acoustics album last week. Entire chord sequences were dissected line-by-line to create a live violin quintet. This will sound utterly amazing when finished!  We will keep you posted...

You can hear some of Automated Acoustics music at: www.myspace.com/automatedacoustics
Grab the previous releases here: www.alternativeblueprint.com

Definitely check out (& book!!) Ben's fantastic band Flood The Floor, in which he plays funky bass here:  http://www.floodthefloor.co.uk
They can go up to a 16 piece band with full horn section -  they are some funky mo'fo's!

Interview with MC Deface of Vagabond Skills

It was a fine spring day when myself, Victor Ian Values caught up with the elusive MC Deface, head lyrical honcho of the Vagabond Skills hip-hop/dubstep project.

1: What are your favourite lyrical topics?
Kind of depends on my mood but complex and filthy ring my bells

2: How do you generally write your lyrics? Written or freestyle?
I freestyle mostly, with that then moving on into written pieces

3: So how much of that freestyle are we hearing in the album? & which are your favourite bits?
About 99% is freestyled, i don't think any of the songs have been written from start to finish. Distanktion has to be the pinnacle of this as I still have no idea WTF  I'm on about!

4: Who are your major musical influences?

Del the funky homospaian / Eminem / Necro / Anti pop consortium / Jehst / Gunshot / Wu-tang / Sian super / Opgezwolle / Silver bullet

5: There are some pretty spaced out lyrics on the album, literally in the case of Planetary Implications, & there are broad references to science in your writing. What are your interests in these areas?
Uh fantastical, I have a vested interest in the unexplained and the mysteries of this world that stretch way beyond even my garbled imagination. The holographic nature of the universe and the true history of man manage to warp my fragile little mind

6: Have there been any funny moments during the making of the album?

Yes but the insanity of them prevent me from revealing details. (Editor's note: after hearing some off the record, I can see why)

7: What the hell is Bearpear? For Gods sake man?
It is the Pear of Bear , it is the essence of life, it is the strange little world drawn inside the minds of the obscure, it is very fine smoke and the resulting visual output of such a fine input.
(Check out the Bearpear cartoon links below if you're not offended by adult themes. Written by Vagabond Skills)

8: What's the Dutch connection?
Rizlas (well the gluey sticky bit on em)

9: Where did you hone your MC skills?

In the wilds of Alaska

10: Do you have any last words?
Why? are you going to shoot me now I've done this interview, oh right well then uh how about "don't shoot"

Vagabond Skills album "The Evasive Pages" comes out in the summer. Scroll down to the bottom of the blog to hear some tracks.

Bolitics, sorry, I mean politics.

With an election coming up in the UK, here's a funny synopsis of politics explained:

And this was allegedly seen on a streetlamp outside 10 Downing Street, & Gordon Brown peeking out from the curtains:

And I think this is how most new government policies are really made:

Well, it's Easter day again, so all around the world Chimpanzees are going on a Cocaine fuelled gun rampage. It's something we all have to face every year, so it's time for some info to help out!

Since the most pressing thing on your mind right now is probably how to disarm the chimp in front of you, here's some handy tips from the excellent Cracked magazine:

The Jive Inspector / Ali Hurrell 12" Vinyl

There are still a few copies of the fantastic 12" VINYL ONLY release of The Jive Inspector available. This is a lush collection of ambient breakbeat, drum & bass & pre-dubstep bass flexing. He was a great inspiration to a lot of producers in the infamous South-West free-party/rave scene.

In later years he lived in Thailand as a Buddhist monk, before his untimely demise aged 27. A total vinyl head, this is a record that deserves a place in your collection. As played by the legendary Mary Anne Hobbs, BBC Radio 1.

Automated Acoustics - "Like Tom Waits being taken up the Wrong'un by Aphex Twin"

Automated Acoustics is an unusual blend of uneasy electronica, industrial jazz, delta blues & gruff vocals. Dance to it or veg out to it.

All crafted with love to all dedicated listeners by a one-man band using: cello, autoharp, piano, organ, guitar, double bass, steeldrum, live drums, synths & vocals.

Dancenova.com called it "the most inventive music you'll hear this year"
Features in Mixmag, DJ & Clash, & reviews in all the glossy monthlies said equally orgasmic things (including the disturbing image of "Tom Waits being taken up the wrong'un by Aphex Twin")

There's an album & an e.p. out now: "Love To The Dedicated Listener" & "Ejector Seat Blues" available on CD & mp3.
Fresh album coming later this year too...
